nutzen!

Who doesn’t remember
The Jungle Book
and the crazy dance between Baloo the Bear and King Louie? The two dance to some hot swing music! Lindy Hop is one of the swing dances and has been the most widespread worldwide since its revival in the 1980s. It originated in Manhattan, New York, in the 1930s. Its predecessors include dances such as the 20s Charleston, tap dance and Authentic Jazz. Lindy Hop is also closely connected to other swing dances of a similar age, such as Shag and Balboa, as well as the slightly younger Boogie-Woogie. What all swing dances have in common is their social dance character. Unlike many other dance styles, there are no rigid rules. Instead, there are countless variations, opportunities for improvisation and regular partner changes. Above all, swing is about having fun and putting a smile on your face!
Level 1:
This is an introductory course where you will learn the basics of Lindy Hop, including basic steps and figures in both 6-count and 8-count patterns. All you need is a love of movement and swing music. With the basic steps and figures you learn, along with the techniques of leading and following and the experience of dancing with different people, you will be ready to hit social dance floors around the world!
Levels 2-3:
This course is aimed at dancers who already know the basic step and can confidently perform some fundamental figures. You will deepen your technique and musicality and combine more complex figures with Solo Jazz elements. The goal is to dance confidently, creatively and improvisationally, even at high tempos.
Notes:
Clean indoor shoes are mandatory. Dancing in outdoor shoes is not permitted. Shoes should be flat and have a smooth, slippery sole.
Please wear comfortable sportswear, as you may work up quite a sweat. Bringing a change of shirt is always a good idea!
Registering as a pair is recommended but not required. However, if you register individually, your preferred dance role (leader or follower) cannot be guaranteed.
If you wish to take the leader role, please register as “Male”. If you wish to take the follower role, please register as “Female”.
Change partners! We regularly rotate partners during class, as partner rotation is a fundamental principle of swing and social dancing. Dancing with different people helps you learn to lead and follow — and you will also get to meet lots of lovely people along the way!
If you do not yet have a dance partner, feel free to use our
sports partner matching platform.
